About
The Vineyard is planted on a gently sloping south facing plot in the Sussex Weald, an area of outstanding beauty and with far reaching views to the South Downs in the distance, from which the vineyard’s name originates.
The varieties planted are predominately for our white sparkling wine (Pinot Noir, Pinot Muenier and Chardonnay) along with Dornfelder which makes our gorgeous sparkling red wine, and a still wine variety Bacchus which we planted as the resulting wine is just so good. The vineyard is currently very small with 2500 vines but we have plenty of space for further plantings in future.
Despite our small size we make all our wines and ciders ourselves, using modern winemaking equipment within our purpose built winery, powered by renewable energy. Our aim is to produce wines that represent the beautiful part of England that the grapes are grown in, rather then to try to emulate wine styles of other regions, such as Champagne. We produce wines that are quintessentially English, specifically from the Weald of Sussex and distinctly ours.
