About

Just outside Groombridge, in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, you’ll find Birchden Vineyards. It’s a little slice of heaven; a family-run, 23-acre working farm where the owners and the community work with nature to lovingly produce mouth-watering wines, honey and apple juice.

Their limited-edition wines are sold via the cellar door, known as ‘The Tasting Den. The two hectares of vineyards produce three mouthwatering wines, a sparkling rosé pinot noir made using the traditional method, a still bacchus and a still rosé pinot noir. Each bottle is a time capsule, telling you the story of that particular season.

Birchden Vineyards run vineyard tours from March until the end of September. A tour and tasting experience lasts 1 hour 30 minutes and includes a tasting flight (75ml) of each of their three wines. Tours are bookable in advance on the website.

Up at the charming and cosy Tasting Den you can buy wines to drink by the glass, along with charcuterie boards and snacks. The space is also bookable as a private venue for a lunch or supper with family and friends, or colleagues. Birchden Vineyards work with Purple Pumpkin catering in Tunbridge Wells to design food and wine pairing dining experiences to suit every occasion.

Picnics on the vineyard are available from Spring 2025, you can pre-order a picnic of your choice online and enjoy it outdoors among the vines.

Birchden have a coffee truck ‘The Blackbird’ open every Saturday serving delicious coffee from Horsham Coffee Roasters, along with freshly made sweet crêpes and savoury galettes. Snacks and soft drinks are also available. There is an outdoor seating area and dogs on leads are welcome.

There is a public footpath running through the property, right past the coffee truck and Tasting Den. The vineyards are also very close to the RSPB nature reserve at Broadwater Warren, and walkers and cyclists are warmly welcomed.

Escape to Birchden Vineyards and be unexpectedly enchanted.  Wines this good deserve to be paired with an unforgettable, magical experience.

Please check their website for latest opening times, the coffee truck opening hours are subject to change.
