About
Jonathan Chiswell Jones has been working as a craft potter in Sussex for 50 years. For the first 25 years, he worked at Drusillas, watched by thousands, and then, at the millennium, when Drusillas changed hands, the pottery was moved to a beautiful, more spacious and quieter location, a stone's throw from Peelings Manor, near Stone Cross.
He has worked ith Kerry Bosworth for the past 27 years. In addition to making a full range of useful pots in porcelain, they have specialised in producing reduction fired lustreware. This unusual and illusive branch of the potters’ art was pioneered in the Middle East, revived in the Victorian age and revived again in the mid-twentieth century. The work they produce, combining colour, their own brushwork designs and the chance effects of flame and fire, is unique and has attracted collectors from around the world.
Their lustreware can be seen in a number of galleries around the country, and can be bought online, and from the pottery showroom.
You can visit the pottery any week day Monday to Friday, from 10-5, watch work being made, and see and buy finished pots from the adjoining showroom. There is ample parking onsite, and visitors are welcome.
