About

Family-owned Rathfinny Wine Estate is a pioneering grower-producer of English sparkling wines. Situated in a picturesque valley near the charming village of Alfriston in the South Downs, the Estate offers exceptional dining and wine-tasting experiences year-round, alongside ‘home-from-home' accommodation at their Flint Barns or the self-catered Rathfinny Cottage.

Established in 2010 by Mark and Sarah Driver, Rathfinny crafts world-class Sussex Sparkling wines that embody the unique South Downs terroir. Over the past decade, it has earned a reputation as one of England’s finest wine destinations, with two restaurants on the Estate, including the Michelin-recommended Tasting Room.

As the world’s first grower-producer of sparkling wine to achieve B Corp certification, Rathfinny demonstrates a commitment to sustainability and ethical business practices, alongside a passion for exceptional winemaking.

Rathfinny Estate offers two dining experiences. The Tasting Room, located in the Winery building, serves modern British cuisine crafted with seasonal ingredients, complemented by stunning views of the vineyard and South Downs. Open for lunch and evening tasting menus, it’s perfect for a special occasion. Please see the website for opening hours.

Elsewhere, the Flint Barns Dining Room features hearty, seasonal dishes in a relaxed setting, ideal for evening meals or Sunday lunches. The Hut, overlooking the vineyard, is the alfresco wine bar welcoming walk-ins for fresh coffee, sweet treats, and glasses of Sussex Sparkling. A seasonal menu of light bites is served.

Visitors can learn more about the Rathfinny story by booking a guided Tour and Tasting at the state-of-the-art Winery facilities. These tours explore the year-round process of growing vines and crafting sparkling wines, culminating in a tasting of Rathfinny’s exceptional cuvées. The Cellar Door shop is also open daily for drop-in tastings and the option to purchase wines and locally sourced gifts from small businesses.

For those wishing to extend their stay, Rathfinny offers short break packages at the Flint Barns bed and breakfast accommodation and the self-catered Cottage, both situated in the heart of the Estate. Staying at Rathfinny provides the perfect base for exploring the scenic Cuckmere Valley and all this part of Sussex has to offer.
